Moscoso Opens the Season With a Statement at the 2026 So Cal Open
Conrrado Moscoso defeats Kane Waselenchuk to capture the first IRT title of the season as the So Cal Open kicks off a new year on the International Racquetball Tour.
The 2026 IRT season officially got underway in Southern California, and the So Cal Open delivered an immediate reminder of just how competitive this season is going to be.
After a full week of professional racquetball, the tournament came down to two of the biggest names in the sport: Conrrado Moscoso and Kane Waselenchuk.
Moscoso came out firing in the championship match, racing to an early 7–1 lead in the opening game. Waselenchuk responded, steadily working his way back into the game and eventually leveling the score at 10–10.
From there, Moscoso took control.
He closed out the first game 15–12 and carried that momentum into Game 2, controlling the pace of the match on his way to a 15–7 victory and the first IRT title of the new season.
For Moscoso, it was the ideal start to another championship chase. For the rest of the Tour, it was an early indication that there will be very little room for error this season.
Championship Weekend Arrives
The So Cal Open also marked the first event under the IRT’s new Championship Weekend format.
Opening rounds and quarterfinal matches remained available free to fans on Facebook and YouTube before the final four moved exclusively to IRT Club for the semifinals and championship final.
Four players. Two semifinals. One final. One champion.
The first weekend produced a strong response from the racquetball community.
It was an encouraging first step as the IRT continues working to create a stronger home for professional racquetball fans while building a more sustainable future for the Tour.
More Than the Livestream
Championship Weekend is only one part of what the IRT is building.
Throughout the season, IRT Club members will have access to immediate match replays, premium streams, the IRT match library and original programming designed to bring fans closer to the players and stories behind professional racquetball.
That includes series such as Inside the Mind, where players break down their matches and decision-making, Legends Uncovered, which tells the stories of the people who built the sport, and Behind the Tour, offering a look at what happens away from the court.
The goal is simple: make IRT Club the home for racquetball fans who want to be closer to the Tour.
